Friedrich Bleek (1793-1859) studied at Kiel and at Berlin under De Weitte, Schleiermacher, and Neander. He taught at Berlin in various capacities until accepting a position at Bonn in 1829, where he taught until his death. A moderate to conservative in the field of Biblical criticism, Bleek taught and wrote on both Old and New Testaments.
