He was also the author of the memoirs \u003ci\u003e'Tis\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eTeacher Man\u003c\/i\u003e. In the 1950s, Malachy opened New York City's original singles bar Malachy's. He went on to a long career in film, television, radio, and on the stage, and as a bestselling author of many books, including \u003ci\u003eA Monk Swimming \u003c\/i\u003eand \u003ci\u003eMalachy McCourt's History of Ireland. \u003c\/i\u003e\u003cb\u003eTom Allon\u003c\/b\u003e is an award-winning journalist, columnist, media executive and publisher.
